Ian is a an artist frustrated by the lack of investment in the Penny Lane neighbourhood. Ian has a plan and here is his message that he would like to get out to the world.

"Every day coachloads of tourists arrive from all over the world, yet the overwhelming response is: 'is this it?'. Inspired by other locals who selflessly give their time to improve the neighbourhood, I decided to stop complaining and take some action! The plan is to create a FREE art trail along Penny Lane: four life-size Beatles plaques, connected by a series of colourful shopfronts and iconic murals to encourage tourism, boost the local economy, honour the Beatles' legacy, and brighten up the area for everyone who lives here.

I've designed a visitor map and flyer showing key landmarks, artwork, local cafes, shops and restaurants, with a sprinkle of local history (see pictures) to encourage tourists to spend some time in the area rather than just passing through! Since I started work on this project I’ve been overwhelmed by how kind and supportive our Penny Lane community is, and it’s inspired me to work day and night to make this vision a reality. Now the groundwork has been laid, and it's time for action.

If you’ve ever complained about a lack of investment in the area, or felt like Penny Lane could be so much more, this is YOUR opportunity to make a lasting, meaningful change – one that we can all be proud of for years to come. £3,000 covers the absolute basics - four life-size plaques (and installation costs), plus tourist flyers and maps. £6,000 covers the four plaques, maps & flyers, plus paint and materials for some colourful artwork and murals. £12,000+ is the dream – that would mean revitalising Penny Lane with murals, colourful shopfronts, a launch party, tourist maps & flyers, life-size Beatles plaques, interactive artwork, giant ‘Penny Lane’ letters, and even an Octopus Garden (wait and see!).

The more we raise, the more we can achieve!

Final thoughts: I’m already giving my all to make this vision a reality, but with your help, it can happen bigger, faster, and better. Let’s stop waiting for someone else to take action, and instead join together to turn Penny Lane into somewhere we can all be proud of — bright, bold, brilliant, and worthy of its name. People coming together to improve the quality of life for others.

The Penny Lane Chief Womble and Lucy recently ensured that as people walk along Penny Lane they are not having to walk round brambles. If a partially sighted person with assistant dog walked down Penny Lane before it was cleared would the dog walk the person in to the lamppost or the road....hopefully neither but....
